This week has been an important week for many of the children in our school. On Monday they spent the morning having campaigns and asking for votes. They run for roles like welfare prefect, academic prefect, head boy and others, and they get different responsibilities at the school. This is a good way for the children to learn how to lead and grow in their leadership skills.

The day was filled with speeches, questions, debate and lots of fun. And after all the campaigning it was time to vote.
These were the ones that got elected:
1. Head Prefect – Alineitwe Jemima
2. Head Boy – Iswaya Daniel
3. Head Girl – Mukibi Tendo Wisdom
4. Compound Prefect – Angel Margret
5. Time keeper – Lubega Marvin and Muluga Eddie (assistant)
6. Health and sanitation Prefect – Nakayaga Priscilla Alice and Mwesigwa Jordan (assistant)
7. Academic Prefect – Nangobi Mercy and Nabusita Mackline (assistant)
8. Religious Prefect – Kirabo Trinity and Nabukonde Olivia (assistant)
9. Welfare Prefect – Manana John, Mugisha Precious and Namagaya Patience (assistants)
10. Head monitor – Kayaga Vivian and Nabukonde Patience (assistant)

I had a chat with two of the ones that got elected, to hear how this was for them.
Nabukonde Olivia (P3) got elected as religious prefect assistant. She told me that it means she and the other leader are in charge of leading worship and praise on the prayers they have every week. Manana John (P4) got elected as welfare prefect. That means that he and his assistants are making sure people are doing well. They help with serving food, so that all the children get lunch.
John told me that he wasn’t nervous when he was campaigning, but that it was good to talk to the students.
We congratulate all the students with their new responsibilities, and we pray that they will use them well with wisdom.
